Brown Eggs

about the chicks

they're all blondes...

Our chickens are hybrids, which is fairly common in poultry.  Many chickens are cross-bred in backyards and small farms and they're still just as delicious and productive as their parents.

Cross-bred chickens are referred to as "barnyard mix" or BYM.

A hybrid chicken is a cross-bred chicken with a stabilized biological makeup, over generations, while still maintaining the benefits of the contributing breeds.

We've had all sorts of chickens, and have narrowed down what's important to us, developing our own hybrid, unavailable anywhere else.  We like eggs and poultry meat - that's why we're all here, living together.

the "Scrambler" is a dual-purpose chicken that lays reliably, and offers a generous yield at harvest.
